Not Everything Deserves a Boss Fight: Reclaiming Your Power, One Choice at a Time

There was a time when I gave way too many things way too much power.

A coworker’s snarky comment? That could ruin my whole day.
A random internet troll? Suddenly I was spiraling about my entire life plan.
Even a poorly timed life event I couldn’t control? Boom - existential meltdown, incoming.

It was like I had unknowingly handed out emotional admin privileges to everything and everyone around me. I wasn’t playing the game - I was just reacting to whatever popped up on the screen.

And here’s what life coaching helped me realize:
Not everything that demands your attention deserves your energy.

Who Gets the Controller?

In any good game, there’s one player holding the controller - and ideally, that player is you. But if you’re not paying attention, it’s easy to let other people (or thoughts, or fears, or unhealed baggage) start mashing buttons for you.

Suddenly, your emotional state is being hijacked by something you didn’t even consciously invite to the party.

The big shift for me came when I started asking:
What am I allowing to have power over me?
And does it actually deserve that power?

Life coaching didn’t magically delete all the noise. But it did give me the tools to recognize when I was treating a background NPC like a final boss.

You Decide What Gets a Cutscene

The truth is, most things aren’t worth turning into a full-blown cinematic. Not every frustration, distraction, or opinion needs its own soundtrack and dialogue tree.

Coaching helped me choose my battles - and more importantly, choose my peace.

It’s not about becoming an emotional fortress (I mean, unless that’s your class build -respect). It’s about learning to pause, breathe, and ask:
Do I really want to spend my limited emotional energy on this… or can I just fast-travel past it?

Main Character Energy, Activated

So if you’ve been feeling like everything is pulling aggro on your sanity, here’s your reminder: You are the main character. You set the tone. You decide what’s worth your time, your energy, and your emotional bandwidth.

Everything else?

Background noise.

Let’s stop giving out boss fight status to things that barely qualify as tutorial-level annoyances.
You’ve got bigger quests to complete.

Choose your power. Choose your peace. And remember: you don’t have to fight every random encounter.
